Dear Sir,

I have received a bill of lading which shows the signature in the following way (the exact text)
Signed for the carrier

by (a signature here) thoms shipping company as agent

on behalf of APL Logistic Limited

can we consider APL as the carrier here?

Hi Pals,

IMHO, it seems to me that Thoms Shipping ... is acting on behalf of APL, that is indicate as carrier by the sentence "Signed for the carrier",
Other comments appreciated

Ciao

PS Is the document written in APL Logistic ltd letterhead or ?

even if it is on letter head

in my opinion, the bill of lading is discrepant even if it is drawn on the letter head of APL logistic. the requirement is to indicate the name of the carrier and that must be without any ambiguity. here the name of the carrier is not clear. i will redesign the Bill of lading in the following way -

now will you identify APL as carrier? or will you identify APL as agent?
