Signing the B/L

Post by malla » Wed Feb 17, 2010 10:06 am

HI

as per article 20(b) says B/L must be signed by carrier or master or their agents.
my question is,if an agent signs the b/l for or on behalf of the carrier, should the name of the carrier also mentioned though if it is identified elsewhere on the b/l?

the requirement

the requirement is that the carrier is identified on the face of the bill of lading and when an agent signs a BL, it has to declare its capacity. if the carrier is mention elsewhere on the BL, there is no need to mention it again
