Demurrage at the discharging port

Post by hanifmb » Mon Apr 05, 2010 8:23 pm

A credit calls for CFR shipment. The b/l is stamped with the following clause : " at discharging port, demurrage at the rate of USD...per 40" container is to be paid by the receiver to the carrier's agents from 16th day after completion of discharge from the carrying vessel until final redelivery of empty container to carrier's agent ". Would this be acceptable ?

Demurrage cost

Refer to ISBP para 89 where the last part stating that A reference in the transport document to costs which may be levied as a result of a delay in unloading the goods or after the goods have been unloaded e.g. ... is not considered to be an indication of additional costs in this context.

The BL is acceptable.

Other view are welcome..
