could any one explain me the exact meaning of shipped and on board notations
does it mean the goods are on the vessel or does it mean the goods on the vessel and the vessel began to the journey on the date

shipped on board & notations
hi everyone
shipped on board simply put means that the goods or consignment are or have been loaded in the hold of the vessel i.e within the protective coverage of the vessel such that no matter what the goods cant be susceptible to jetitioning or being washed over board during perils of the sea
tranport documents as covered in article 19, 20, 21, 22 23, 24 are required to indicate that the gooods are shipped on board through a printed notation or stamped notation
this is how it flows:
the beneficiary hands over the goods to its agent or freight forwarder who inturn hand over the goods to the mate servant who issue a mate receipt acknowledging receipt. just whent the vessel is about to set sail the master or the actual carrier issue and stamped the original bill of lading, gives it to the beneficiary or its agent in exchange for the mate receipt
however there are situation where the bill of lading is alredy prepared before sailing i.e pre-printed notation this would then require a stamped notation indicating the actual date the goods loaded on board
shipped on board is a very important feature in the circle of trade service, as it indicate performance on the part of the beneficiary. little wonder insttitutions like IMB has come up to clear the air of doubt as regard shipment and sailing.

Dear,
From My point of view:
Goods shipped on board in a NAMED vessel at a port of loading [emphasis added] STATED on the credit.
I think stick into Journey began can confuse us because there may be place of receipt and precarriage notation on Bill of lading.....
