Dear all,
It is often now that,we do receive LC's with documents required as an invoice certified by Chamber of commerce and legalised by the embassy in the exporting country. But I dont really know the difference between Certification and Legalisation. Please can any one help me out on this topic.

ICC opinion TA640
there is an ICC opinion specifically addressing your question. is your question based on it? anyway, here is the answer
Legalization of documents entails a process whereby documents issued in one country ("Source Country") need to be used in another country ("Destination Country") and must be "authenticated" or "legalized" before they can be recognized as valid in the destination country. Legalization generally occurs on the strength of certification by a chamber of commerce and usually extends to the verification of the signature of the chamber of commerce. Again, legalization may be evidenced by a signature, mark, stamp or label that appears to satisfy the requirement in the credit of legalization by the named embassy or consulate.

art 3 UCP 600
Hi Pals,
IMHO, art 3 could be enough:
-A requirement for a document to be legalized, visaed, certified or similar will be satisfied by any signature, mark, stamp or label on the document which appears to satisfy the requirement.
Many documents checkers have not full leterature at disposal.
Other comments appreciated

Legalization vs certification
Hi,
If L/c requires "Cert of origin must be certified by chamber of commerce",while scrutiny we found that cert of origin was
legalized by chamber of commerce instead of certification,
Wil it be a discrepancy?
