Consignee In Certificate Of Origin And ISBP Art. L5

Post by Jin » Wed Apr 29, 2015 8:03 am

Dear expert,

As per ISBP Art. L5, Consignee in C/O can be any entity named in credit except beneficiary when B/SL to be issued " to order", " to the order of shipper", " to order of issuing bank"," to order of nominated bank(or negotiating bank)" or " Consigned to issuing bank".

The shipping documents to be presented, consignee in BL is "to order of applicant bank" as the credit and any entity in the credit is consignee in C/O.
The point of ISBP Art. L5 seems when the Consignee haven't been known, any entity in the credit can be consignee and it is not discrepant and not sure the applicant bank is not listed as an exeception in ISBP Art. L5.

Any comments on this?

Thank you and Best regards,
Jin.

Hi Pal,

I understood that in trading it is possible to have anonimous documents, when you have to use them to resell.
If you have transport documents so entitled you may accept a certificate of origin consigned to applicant, issuing bank or other entity resulting in the l/c(forwarder, agent etc)

Other comments appreciated
Ciao
