Name of vessel - must?

Post by mohitjai » Fri Feb 27, 2015 5:47 pm

Hi

The only exception I can think of is wherein the document is F/F or House BL and they sign the document as a carrier. This should be compliance with sub article 20 a of UCP 600. Even if credit prohibits such F/F BLs but doesn't specify the exact requirement expected, then F/F BL will be accepted by banks since they need not evaluate whether F/F is a carrier or not so long as he has signed as a carrier.

appreciate comments.

NAME OF VESSEL ON MARINE BL

Post by GUBAZ » Mon Mar 02, 2015 11:58 pm

Here is the official rule:

ii. indicate that the goods have been shipped on board a named vessel at the port of loading stated in the credit by:
- pre-printed wording, or
- an on board notation indicating the date on which the goods have been shipped on board.
The date of issuance of the bill of lading will be deemed to be the date of shipment unless the bill of lading contains an on board notation indicating the date of shipment, in which case the date stated in the on board notation will be deemed to be the date of shipment.
If the bill of lading contains the indication "intended vessel" or similar qualification in relation to the name of the vessel, an on board notation indicating the date of shipment and the name of the actual vessel is required.

vessel name

under UCP FCR / ff is not a transport doc and the UCP does not apply . So the whether vessel name appears on FCR or not does not matter.
However , incase of BL vessel name is mandatory.
