LC Amended After Shipment Date

Post by nghiye » Mon Oct 20, 2014 1:32 pm

Dear Sirs,

We have already shipped out the goods on 16 Oct. Today is 20 Oct we are not yet presented the docs because the applicant they want to adjust the description on LC (add details of weight in this section) and add 1 type of required docs.

My question is can we refuse the amended LC in case we can't provide the additional docs or they revise the content of description?

Please let me know your idea!

Thanks,

Nghi

UCP 600, Art 10.a

Dear Nghi,

You can very well refuse the amendment and present the documents as per original LC terms. As per UCP 600, Art 10.a - except as otherwise provided by article 38, a credit can neither be amended nor cancelled without the agreement of the issuing bank, the confirming bank, if any, and the beneficiary.

Thanks & regards,

Isaac Tudu
