Incomplete Name Of The Carrier

Dear all,

I received a BL which says:-

"ABC as agent of the carrier MV (a blue mark - looks like a word which has been erased)
UK Services Branch Ltd"

Under Art 20 of the UCP 600, the name of the carrier must be identified.

1) Which is the name of the carrier:-
a) UK Services Branch Ltd
b) MV _____ UK Services Branch Ltd

2) If your answer is b, do you think that it is incomplete?

3) Is this a discrepancy under the UCP 600?

I think this is a descrepancy...if there is an alteration the party should authenticate it...if an agent has made a correction, another party needs to sign on that

IMHO, after phrase MV, a named vessel could be filled, however, it is to be blank or erase. According to your described, it is erased, it should be corrected. Therefore, a disc as correction not authenticated should be raised.
